There are 2 different Pre-Certification Scholarship models.

• One Semester Pre-Certification Scholarship model consists of 6-12 credits being completed in only one semester.
• Two Semester Pre-Certification Scholarship model consists of 9-15 credits in only two semesters.

These models meet the needs of teachers, directors, and owners who only have 1 or 2 semesters before beginning Student Teaching. This model covers early childhood, early childhood special education, and general education courses taken at a Missouri 4-year college listed in the College Directory.)

The Pre-Certification Scholarship models are not the only scholarship models that support courses in early childhood for a Bachelors Degree. If you have more than 2 semesters remaining to earn your Bachelor’s degree or are about to begin student teaching, a Bachelor Degree Scholarship or a Student Teaching Scholarship might be a good fit for you. Review these options and call or email us if you are uncertain about which to select.

We prefer that you complete all general education courses at a two-year college prior to moving to your early childhood coursework at a four-year college. However, if you prefer to take all your courses at a four-year college, please let your scholarship counselor know. A Pre-Certification Scholarship is not renewable and must lead to student teaching.

A Pre-Certification Scholarship may best suit your needs if you are:

• A teacher, director, assistant, aide, or owner
• Within 1 or 2 semesters of beginning student teaching or
• You are seeking an introduction to the field of early childhood to supplement a degree in an unrelated field.
